The cool climate queen of red wine is a natural match for Marlborough’s temperate dry vintage climate. The grapes typically show ripe berry fruit flavours – raspberry and strawberry; that distinctive “forest floor” earthen aroma and fresh acidity. Produced exclusively from 25 year old, clone 5 Pinot Noir vines from our Southern Valleys Brancott vineyards, from old clay, rich, gravelly soils. These hand harvested grapes were cool soaked before fermentation in open top oak cuvees, hand plunged, given extended post ferment skin contact, gently pressed and then aged in 40% new & 60% old French oak barrels for 15 months.
