The Valleys Awatere Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2009
The Awatere Valley to the South and East of Marlborough’s acclaimed Wairau Valley is making its mark for racy pungently flavoured Sauvignon Blanc – green capsicum, passionfruit and tomato leaf/herbal aromas. Grown at our Awatere Hills vineyard on old seabed deposits, intermingled with clay the soils are unique. The climate is likewise – dryer, windier, hotter in summer, cooler in autumn yet early to bud burst in spring. All these subtle differences add challenges viticultural, yet alone the expression of another unique style of Marlborough Savvy.

Tasting Notes
Char-grilled bell peppers, fresh tomato leaf & ripe passionfruit abound on the nose of this wine – leaps out of the glass flavours; it’s a punchy & vibrant wine, crisp & fresh with a good weight of fruit & long after taste; absolutely expressive of this exciting new Awatere terroir.
