The Doctors Bubbles for Beth Sparkling Syrah 2006
Vintage 2006 was very much influenced by lovely warmth in early summer, resulting in an early veraison, followed by a cooler March-April vintage period which slowed ripening and allowed time for that all important flavour development. Without doubt the easiest vintage we have experienced for many years, with superbly ripe, healthy fruit across the entire range of grape varietals. The Doctors’ Methode Traditionelle Profile ‘Bubbles for Beth’ is a unique method traditionnelle sparkling Red wine made to celebrate the graduation of my daughter Beth with her Masters in Oenology. Marlborough with its dry cool autumn nights produces grapes with exceptional flavour and high natural acidity – the ideal substrate for great sparkling wine! This 80% Syrah 20% Malbec wine was bottle-fermented and then allowed to age on yeast lees for 30 months giving additional flavour, richness and complexity.

Tasting Notes
Deep carmine red hued in colour, it erupts in the glass with tiny bubbles, and inviting fresh boysenberry, cassis, blackcurrant and cracked pepper aromas. It’s lively on the palate, velvety smooth, creamy and rich with a crisp, refreshing finish.
